Beef and Broccoli

A midweek favourite, this Asian style dish is super tasty and easy to make


Serves 2


Step 1
Wash the rice thoroughly and put on to cook
Step 2
Thinly slice the garlic and ginger before chopping the broccoli into bite size pieces and cutting the onion into wedges
Step 3
Make the sauce by mixing 1tbsp corn-starch, brown sugar, soy sauce and the sliced garlic and ginger together in a bowl
Step 4
Slice your choice of beef into thin strips against the grain and mix with some corn-starch and 1tbsp water
Step 5
Blanche the broccoli for 3-5 minutes in boiling water before draining and rinsing with cold water
Step 6
Put a pan on a high heat with 1tbsp vegetable oil and add the beef, don’t cook all the way through but just get some colour on the outside before setting aside on a plate
Step 7
Add another tbsp of oil to the pan along with the onions and broccoli, cook until it has some nice colour and it is tender
Step 8
Add the sauce and, once that’s nice and sticky, readd the beef. Stir and serve with a topping of sesame seeds and your rice on the side
