Change up your breakfast and try this Costa Rican Gallo Pinto with homemade Lizano Sauce.

Method

Step 1
To make the Lizano Sauce, add vegetable stock, 1/2 chopped onion, sugar, lemon, vinegar, cumin, salt, chilli powder, and molasses to a blender and blend until a sauce is formed
Step 2
Start by frying the other half of your chopped onion, bell pepper, and garlic in a hot pan with oil. Soften and then add some of the sauce and mix in
Step 3
Add rice and black beans and mix into the onions. Cook for a couple of minutes before adding some more sauce. Finish with coriander (cilantro) and a fried egg, and serve!
