A favourite sweet treat made healthier and at home!

Method
Step 1
Sift the flour into a large bowl and mix in the salt
Step 2
Warm the milk in your microwave or on a stove and stir in the yeast, then pour into the flour and salt
Step 3
In a separate bowl, mix the apple sauce, egg and maple syrup and add to the large bowl. Mix until a dough forms and knead until it bounces back when you press it
Step 4
Place back in the bowl, cover and allow to rise for around an hour in a warm, dry place. Once that’s done, knock it back and roll out into a large rectangle

Pour hot water over the dates in a bowl and leave to soak for a few minutes, then add cinnamon and blend until smooth
Step 6
Taste the mixture (a crucial step), then spread over the dough. Roll up and slice into thick slices, then place in a baking dish, cover and leave to prove for 45 minutes. Preheat your oven to 200ºC
Step 7
Brush the top with some milk and bake for 25 minutes. To make the icing, mix yoghurt, vanilla paste, honey and a little milk, serve and enjoy!
